Q: Every time I apply fake eyelashes, they look uneven or don’t stick properly. What am I doing wrong? To prevent crooked lashes and ensure a proper “fit,” be sure to measure the false lash against your natural lash line and cut off any excess length before application. If you have oily lids, sweep a little translucent powder, such as MAC Blot Powder, over the lid to minimize oil and shine. Once you’ve trimmed the lash, apply a thin layer of waterproof latex glue, such as Duo Surgical Adhesive, along the lash’s seam only. Be sure to use the glue sparingly, since too much will prevent the lash from sticking and lead to slippage. Once you’ve applied the glue, allow it to sit for a few seconds so it can become tacky, then press the lash to the inner corner of the lash line for a few seconds. Continue to apply the lash, lightly tapping it along the rest of the natural lash line, a bit at a time, until you reach the outer corner. At this point, all you’ll need for flawless lashes is a little liquid or gel eyeliner, such as MAC Fluidline, and a quick coat of your favorite mascara.
